Trysten's Superhero Birthday Party

YAY! I'm finally posting Trysten's birthday party!  Only a month and a half late.  I had a ton of fun planning this thing.  I started months before because I knew it would take some time.  It's crazy how you work so hard and long on something and then when the day comes it's over within a couple hours.  It was so worth it though.
 The Slither scooter he wanted.

So since his birthday is in August (the hottest month of the summer) it's nice 'cause we can have the party outside and I don't have to worry about kids trashing the house.  We set up a pool with a slide and a bouncy house.  I had enough squirt guns for all of the kids so they could use them for the games I had planned.  The first game was called Vaporize a Villain.  I printed out a bunch of bad guys and laminated them so they could get wet then hung them up all over the yard so the kids could shoot them with their squirt guns.

Vaporize a Villain

They look way bored but they were actually enjoying it!

The other game I thought of was to freeze superheroes and then the kids would have to use their squirt guns to melt the ice and free them.  This was actually a big hit!  They spent the whole first hour of the party just trying to melt those guys!  I never thought it was going to be so popular.

They were so excited when they got those suckers out!

I was crazy and made capes for all of the kids.  I didn't want to have to sew 10 capes so I just made my own cape template, bought the cheapest black fabric I could find at JoAnn's, and cut them out with some pinking shears.   Then I found some sticky back felt and cut out their initials and cool superhero shapes to stick to their cape.  I found some plain white masks on Oriental Trading for way cheap for them to decorate too.  They had a ton of fun making their own capes.

And finally..................
is it over yet? :)  Sorry, I am posting a lot of pictures.
drumroll please.......
The cupcakes!

Just let me tell ya that I am soooo glad that my son would rather have cupcakes instead of cake!  I am not good at making cakes but I had a lot of fun making these!
So there ya go.  My oldest son's 6th birthday party.  So much fun.  Although, I don't know what I was thinking, I am probably going to have to go all out like this for all of my kids every year now.  Ugh.

Leavenworth Trip

We went to Leavenworth the last weekend of July with Lynn, David, Lani, and Keilan.  We got a cabin in the beautiful woods just outside of town.  The cabin was really nice!  There was plenty of room for all of us, they had tons of toys and movies for the kids, and a hot tub.  We just hung out around the cabin the first day we were there.  We tried to go down to the creek but the mosquitos were eating us alive (even after we sprayed bug spray on us) so we had to get inside.  We went shopping around town the next day for as long as the kids allowed and then we took them over to the outdoor swimming pool across the street.  The kids had a blast there which we were thankful for since we realized there really wasn't much for kids to do around there.  They really did have fun though just being away at a new place and hanging out at the cabin with their new guns pretending to shoot tigers. :)  We did go on a hike around the lake too, which they enjoyed also.  It was a nice break and such a beautiful place.  I would love to go there again during the winter and go sledding!
Having fun in the pool with Daddy
Thumbs up!

The Fair

It has been a few years since we have been to the fair. The last time we went Gavin was just a baby and Trysten was too scared to go on any rides. It was so much fun this year! The boys went on the airplanes and the dizzy dragons, they LOVED it! Trysten saw this bungee jumping thing and really wanted to go on it so we were totally willing to let him try it out. I thought he was going to wimp out right when they hooked him up to the thing but he didn't!  You can go crazy high on the thing and the guy tried to make him go higher and then his eyes would get really wide and he'd say "ok not that high!" We got it on video on Keith's phone.  I wish you can see his eyes but the video's not that great.  Gavin went on it too and he started going really high but then realized he had to go pee really bad so he had to get off.  Oh well, he enjoyed the few jumps he got. :)  The boys also really liked looking at the horses and the bunnies and playing the fun games.  And of course the food was yummy too! We had a fun day!

4th of July

We were home this year for 4th of July, which was kinda nice.  We spent way too much money and bought a bunch of awesome fireworks.  David, Lani and Keilan came over and watched them with us and then we had a campout in our tents in the backyard.  Really roughin' it huh?  Well, we thought we would try it out before we actually did full on camping out in the wilderness.  It was actually a really chilly evening compared to our normal 100 degree 4th of July's we've had in the past.  We had to get blankets out to watch the fireworks and I think I brought out all of the blankets in our linen closet to stay warm in our tent for the night.  (we don't own any sleeping bags yet)  We roasted marshmallows and made smores and stayed up way too late.  We got a little crazy and started posing like crazy people with David's bb guns.  We're such nerds.  Oh well, Trysten had fun with it. :)
Sparklers!

Dorks

uh....

I have way more of these photos but I will stop here. :) (we were having fun can you tell?)

And Trysten was the only one who slept well that night I think.  (and got to sleep in)

We had fun, but I have a feeling we will not be camping out in the wilderness any time soon.  Not as fun as I thought it would be with a baby and all.  Thank goodness our house was right next door! :)
